Carl E. Ward Jr., 50, of Auburn, passed away on July 21, 2017, at the Auburn Rehab and Nursing Center. Carl was the son of the late Carl E. and Ina Mae Hoffman Ward Sr. Carl worked for Tessy Plastics in Elbridge for 25 years on the assembly line and was known as the Candy Man. He was in the U.S. National Guard from 1983 to 1986. He enjoyed playing card games, especially Rummy, with his family.
He is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey Ward, of Florida, and David Ward, of Auburn; two daughters, Crystal Cox, of Fulton, and Kayla Ward, of Auburn; mother of his children, Kim Cobb, of Port Byron; brother, Ricky Ward; three sisters, June Hoffman and her husband, Bo, of Auburn, Kathy Ziegler and her husband, Greg, of Auburn, and Sandy Merrill, of Syracuse; four grandchildren, Madalynn Knapp, Raelynn Stoneburg, Kennedy Knapp, and Savanna Knapp; uncle, Bill Powers and his wife, Wilma “Peanut.”
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Soule Cemetery, Sennett, N.Y.
