The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues its investigation in Saturday’s fatal collision on State Route 34 at the intersection of Silver Street in the Town of Fleming.
The State Police reported in a news release issued on Sunday that a motorcycle operated by Christopher Hilliard of Moravia was traveling northbound on State Route 34 and a pick up truck operated by Gregory Fitts of Rogersville, Tennessee was southbound making left turn onto Silver Street when the collision occurred.
Mr. Hilliard was taken to Auburn Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Mr. Fitts was uninjured.
Preliminary investigation and from witnesses statements is that speed may be a factor in the accident.
A person has been killed in a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck Saturday afternoon in Fleming. According to Cayuga County 911, after the collision, the truck burst into flames, on Route 34 near Sand Beach Road. Route 34 was closed into the evening because of the incident. Further information, such as how many people were involved and their possible state is not available at this time.
