(60-75min) Continue your relaxing morning with a leisurely paddle back to the FLM&A site. (30-45min) Light refreshments will be available at the State Park upon arrival and at departure.
The FLM&A is particularly excited to offer its first weeklong woodworking workshop/program focusing on the art of timber framing. Rob Hughes, owner of Big Beams Timber Frames, has completed a wide range of timber frame structures throughout the Finger Lakes region. As a teacher with Wayland-Cohocton High School, Rob has developed a new course that teaches Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math through the medium of timber framing. In September of 2016, he presented at the annual Timber Framer’s Guild Conference where he discussed this new course and provided support to other interested institutions. This high quality, intensive learning workship will not only teach participants a new, timeless skill, but also incorporate the history of timber framing both in the Finger Lakes and across the country. This hands-on course will be taking place at the FLM&A site where participants will be working with Rob as they erect a timber frame lean-to along one side of the existing Creekside Center barn (new kayak and canoe livery).
Paddle your way across Keuka Lake and back as this exciting event returns for a second year! New in 2017 – Stand up paddle board category, Family Fun Paddle, and boat rentals available. All proceeds to benefit the continued development of the Finger Lakes Museum & Aquarium!
