Bruce Linscott Clifford Sr. passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, after a brief illness at Rochester General Hospital.
He was the son of the late Earnest Alfred Clifford and Elizabeth Margaret Hadden Clifford.
Bruce was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth (Betty).
Bruce was the city manager for the City of Auburn, N.Y. from 1966 until 1990 and then was the interim city manager from 1998 to 2000. He was a veteran of the Army and a Rotary member. He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and boating. He graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a B.S. in civil engineering and from the Syracuse University Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs with a master’s of public administration.
Bruce is survived by two sons, Bruce “Scott” Clifford Jr. and his wife, Ann Marie, of Webster, and Christian “Chris” Clifford and his wife, Pauline, of Fredericksburg, Va.; six grandchildren, Bryan (Valerie Smith), Aaron (Amanda Polimeni), and Kaitlyn Clifford, of Webster, Andrew, Brandon, and Cameron Clifford, of Fredericksburg, Va., and one great-grandson, Alex Clifford, of Webster.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn, with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Soule Cemetery, Sennett.
