The Cayuga County Ways and Means Committee meets Tuesday evening, and on the agenda is a resolution authorizing Legislature Chair Keith Batman to execute a letter of intent confirming the county’s intent to enter into contract negotiations for the development of a solar farm on 9 acres of county property near the county jail in Sennett.
Batman tells Finger Lakes News Radio the Central New York Regional Planning Board first floated the proposal more than a year ago.
He adds the idea is only at the possibility stage.
The measure authorizes Canada-based Abundant Solar Power, Inc., and the Central New York Regional Planning Board to conduct the analysis required for a pre-development report for consideration by the Legislature at no cost to the County.
If the measure is passed by the committee it’s expected the full legislature will debate the measure when it meets next Tuesday.
