The Ontario County Public Health Department has a new “Look Before You Lock” campaign underway urging parents and guardians to make sure kids don’t get left alone in cars where they could succumb to dangerously high temperatures. They say “a car is not a babysitter, never leave a child alone in a vehicle, not even for a minute.” They ask passersby who may see a youngster alone in a car to get involved and call authorities. Public Health Director Mary Beer says take extreme action if a child is struggling.
The Department wants people to use the hash tags #Lookbeforeyoulock and #heatstrokekills on social media to spread the word.
