Canandaigua Announces Winners from
Annual Fourth of July Parade
Canandaigua, NY – The City of Canandaigua hosted its annual Independence Day Celebration – bringing a day of festivities including a parade, community picnic, entertainment in the park, and fireworks display to the city.
Beginning at 10 a.m., 57 parade entries that included historical groups, local businesses, kids’ groups and elected officials, marched down Main Street towards Kershaw Park. Creative floats showed off this year’s theme, “This Land I Love,” as a way to celebrate beautiful Canandaigua, the Finger Lakes, and those who call it home.
A panel of judges comprised of community members Denise Chappel, Jon Goodwin and Ethan Fogg, and youth judges Margaux Mahoney, Caroline Tepedino, and Phoebe Horst voted on the parade entries. They are delighted to announce nine entries who will receive awards from this year’s parade.
The 2017 Parade entry winners were:
Grand Marshall Award: Boy Scout Troop 32
Mayor’s Community Spirit Award: Ontario County Historical Society
Canandaigua BID Award: McGraws Martial Arts
Outstanding Musical Unit: Marion Red Cap Marching Band
Outstanding Float: Town of Canandaigua
Best Theme on a Float: Kiwanis Club of Canandaigua
Best Fire Department Marching Color Guard: Pittsford Fire Department
Best Fire Department Outstanding Vehicle: Bloomfield Fire Department
Junior Judges Award: USA Masters Academy
