The Cayuga County Health Department has issued a Boil Water Order for the Village of Aurora. Director of Environmental Health Eileen O’Connor tells FLNR the order follows a leak in the water main on the Wells College campus that resulted in officials having to bypass the college’s storage tank.
Bypassing the storage tank provides less contact time for chlorine to disinfect the water supply.
O’Connor says it’s expected the order will likely be in effect until the weekend.
Until the order is lifted, boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation.
If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact the Health Department at 315-253-1560 or the village office at 315-364-7293.
