179-No votes, 96- Yes votes.
The Village of Rushville in Yates and Ontario counties will remain a village.
That was the result of yesterday’s village disolution vote. Earlier this year, former mayor Jon Bagley turned in a petition signed by 107 people to force a yesterday’s referendum. Governor Andrew Cuomo has been pushing communities to consolidate.
Only a handful of Finger Lakes Villages have gone out of business after a dissolution vote : Seneca Falls, Lyons and Macedon. In the case of Seneca Falls it took some 20 months between the public vote and when they locked up the Village Hall one last time at the end of December 2011.
In the Monroe County village of Brockport voters twice in 2010 and 2016 voted to keep their village government.
