He had been a running coach for over 30 years and had been with Syracuse Fleet Feet Sports since 2005. Brendan Jackson was doing what he loved Sunday when he collapsed and died at the Seneca 7 Relay Race. In a statement on the race Facebook Page, organizers said “It’s with heavy hearts that we learned of the passing of Brendan Jackson. During the course of the day, he suffered a serious medical emergency. Fellow athletes, volunteers, and emergency personnel leapt into action, providing immediate and competent care and harnessing resources to render aid. We want our Seneca 7 community to know what compassion and camaraderie was shown out there yesterday. We are truly thankful for the presence of such loving and brave people. Our thanks to all who helped yesterday. Our prayers and our deepest condolences to Brendan’s family and friends.”
