Steuben County Assistant District Attorney Todd Casella has announced he plans to challenge Yates County District Attorney Valerie Gardner this fall.
Casella is a 2003 graduate of Wayne Central School and has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Queens College and a law degree from Touro Law School.
Casella was hired as a full-time ADA in Steuben County in 2013. According to the Steuben County District Attorney’s website, Casella is currently responsible for representing the People in 9 local courts throughout Steuben County, as well as a County Court Calendar.
The Finger Lakes Times reports both Gardner and Casella are Republicans so a primary will be held in September.
Gardner announced earlier this year she would seek re-election to another four year term. She was first elected in 2013.
